Vietnam: 35 tons of jade material to be engraved with the world's largest Emerald Buddha(1/25/2010)

January 18, according to foreign media reports, the Vietnamese company is prepared to use a 35-ton weight of jade carving out the world's largest Emerald Buddha.

The company said they had 1.45 million spent in 2006 in Myanmar gem auction to buy this piece of jade. 35-ton piece of jade, they are prepared to spend two years, the Emerald Buddha carved piece of jade. Good Emerald Buddha sculpture is only 15 tons of weight, 3 meters high. They hope that the world's largest Emerald Buddha statue, can enhance the international image of Vietnam.

The company was held today to start carving Emerald Buddha ceremony. Vietnamese State President Nguyen Minh Triet to participate in commencement ceremonies.
